How to choose video export settings for common online platforms
Give their encoder a clean source. You will not skip their encoder.

The re-encode rule
YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn transcode uploads. Your job is to avoid stacking artefacts: do not export a 4 Mbps mushy file and hope it sharpens. Start with a sensible pixel size and a bitrate with headroom.
Starting points we are willing to publish
YouTube 1080p: 1920×1080, 30 fps, around 8 Mbps video, 192 kbps AAC. Shorts and Reels: 1080×1920, 30 fps, 5–8 Mbps as a starting range. LinkedIn landscape: 1920×1080.
These numbers were reviewed on 16 August 2026 against common public guidance and practical export defaults. They are not a live scrape. Confirm before a paid campaign.
Use the calculators
The duration/file-size calculator tells you whether a 60-second 8 Mbps file will fit a cap. The aspect-ratio calculator tells you whether your 1080×1920 is actually 9:16. The inspector tells you what you actually exported.
Limitations
HDR, 4K, and 60 fps policies change. ConvertPass does not process unrestricted server-side transcodes. Phase-two in-browser processing will warn about CPU, battery, and memory first.
