What this tool does

The calculator uses a greatest-common-divisor reduction. You can type numbers or read them from a file. It does not crop the image.

How to use it

  1. Enter width and height, or drop an image.
  2. Read the simplified ratio and decimal.
  3. Use the social resizer if you then need a crop.

Supported input

  • Positive integers, or an image file

Output

  • Simplified ratio and decimal

Privacy

This tool processes files and text locally in your browser. Your content is not uploaded or stored by this site.

ConvertPass does not include your input in analytics, URLs, or error reports. Encoding: N/A for numbers. Limit: 25 MB if using a file (25.00 MB).

Limitations

  • Very odd pixel sizes simplify to large integers, which is mathematically correct.
  • This does not change the file.

Example

Input
1920 × 1080
Output
16:9 (1.777…)

Troubleshooting

The ratio is 1917:1078
The source is not an exact broadcast size. Crop or resize if you need a clean 16:9.

FAQ

Is 4:3 the same as 1.33?

Approximately. The fraction is exact; the decimal is rounded for display.

Can I compute crop dimensions?

Not in this calculator. Use the social resizer for named crops.

Does dropping a file upload it?

No. Only width and height are read.

What about portrait 9:16?

Enter 1080 × 1920. The simplified ratio is 9:16.
