What this tool does

The converter draws the image onto a canvas and re-encodes it. That is a re-encode, not a lossless container switch. Colour profiles may be ignored by the browser, and EXIF orientation is applied as the browser applies it when decoding.

How to use it

1. Drop up to 10 images.
2. Choose an output format and quality.
3. Download one file or a zip of all results.

Privacy

This tool processes files and text locally in your browser. Your content is not uploaded or stored by this site.

ConvertPass does not include your input in analytics, URLs, or error reports. Encoding: Browser image decoder. Filenames may be Unicode; downloads are sanitised.. Limit: 10 files, 25 MB each (25.00 MB).

Limitations

• Animated GIFs become a still frame.
• HEIC/HEIF is not offered unless the browser already decodes it. ConvertPass does not ship a silent HEIC library in this release.
• Transparency is lost when converting to JPEG.
• ICC profiles and EXIF are not preserved through canvas encode.

Troubleshooting

AVIF is disabled

This browser cannot encode AVIF on a canvas. Convert to WebP or JPEG, or use a browser that reports AVIF support.

The image looks rotated

Some files rely on EXIF orientation. If the browser ignores it, rotate with the controls before downloading.

FAQ

Is conversion lossless?

PNG to PNG can be, aside from metadata stripping through canvas. JPEG, WebP, and AVIF at quality less than 1 are lossy. PNG to JPEG is always lossy.

Why is HEIC missing?

HEIC support in browsers is inconsistent. ConvertPass will not advertise HEIC conversion until it can do so reliably and say which browsers were tested.

Do you keep my photos?

No. Images stay in memory for this page session. Closing the tab releases them.

What is the pixel limit?

Each image is capped at 8192px per side and 40,000,000 pixels total so a phone is less likely to crash.
